The Maud Gibson Trust was created in 1945 with a Settlement from Miss Maud Gibson to support the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.
Since then the Trust has provided important financial assistance, and been an influential advocate, for the horticultural, scientific and educational work of the Gardens.
It has been especially involved in the establishment of the Royal Botanic Gardens’ site at Cranbourne and the development there of the new Australian Garden showcasing the beauty and diversity of Australian plants.
The Trust Company Ltd acts as trustee for the Settlement, assisted by the Maud Gibson Trust Advisory Committee consisting of the Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Professor of Botany at the University of Melbourne and other knowledgeable members.
They work closely together to implement the Trust’s objectives. The Settlement is now valued at over $1 million and has supported numerous projects benefiting the Gardens, its staff and the Victorian community.
